Welcome back to the Honors Pre-Cal Blog!
I have a video for you to watch that gives you another explanation of how to graph. Please give me a comment on what you think of the explanation and why or why you do not like it.
Thanks,
Mr Oliger
Graphing Trig
I liked the idea of making a t table before graphing the actual function. It seemed to me that doing this would making graphing an easier and neater process. Drawing the x-axis before your y-axis also seemed like a good way to keep your graphing neat. I really liked this video. It really helped me better understand what we are discussing in class.
ReplyDeleteI thought the video was very helpful, he explained it in a clear and understandable way and really kept my attention. I agree with Paige on the T chart idea. It always helped me with other graphs so I think it will help me with the graphs we are working on now. I might even go watch part 2 because right now I still can't figure out how to graph my homework problems! I can find all the other things but I cannot figure out how to graph the darn things!
ReplyDeleteI really liked how he explained everything in the function and what each thing means and what they do. It really helped me understand better about the sine and cosine functions. When he did the t table, it helped me also, but it might confuse a person just learning it. Also, he went fast. It was perfect speed for me, but it would be too fast for someone just learning it. Over all he did a really great job explaining it and I understand much better now that I watched this video.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the video and I found to be extremely helpful in fully understanding the process of graphing sine and cosine. I really liked how he color-coordinated the parts of the equation and used the same corresponding color to write rules and helpful tips to assist in the process. He laid everything out cleanly and organized the steps. It was nice that he went over both radians and degrees when talking about the values of certain points. I liked how he referred to the unit circle and connected it to finding the points with the t-chart. I think I would struggle finding y-values for the t-chart, but I believe that the chart would make it easier to graph points. This video was very easy to follow, but without previous introduction, I don't know if I would have been able to follow as well. This video just clarified everything for me, which helps a lot. I feel more confident graphing sine and cosine now.
ReplyDeleteThis video really helped me out a lot. It helped me fully understand everything better. The parts I was struggling with are much easier now. I really liked how he made a T chart before he makes his graph so he knows what point goes where. I also like how he labeled the X-axis before he made his Y-axis so that way he knew where everything went, and it kept everything very neat. I'm very glad I watched this video he did a great job explaining everything.
ReplyDeleteI thought the video was very helpful and helped to better understand the graphs of the sine and cosine functions. In my opinion, the T chart could be beneficial, but it's not something I would want to have to do every time I had to graph a function. This video would be beneficial to someone who is trying to gain a better understanding of how to graph these functions, but for someome who hasn't learned it yet might get confused because of how quickly he explains it.
ReplyDeleteThis video is helpful if you are not quite sure how to graph sine and cosine. If you have never done anything with sine and cosine and graphing then the video might be a little confusing. I really like the t-chart idea i think it would help with the graphing. I would not want to do the t-chart every time because sometimes it would take too much time. I liked this video and how he explained everything very well.
ReplyDeleteI believe that this video was very helpful in better understanding how to graph sine and cosine. It always makes it easier to know another way to graph a function in cause you get stuck on a certain problem because you have anothr method to try. I do like the idea of a t-chart and think it would be helpful but I think I understand the way we learned in class more thoroughly.
ReplyDeleteI thought this video was somewhat helpful. I feel like he just reiterated everything I've already learned from class. I think this video would be nice for review, but it didn't really broaden my knowledge on the topic. I think Mr. Oliger has also suggested the use of a T-chart. I might try to incorporate that into my work a bit more. Other than that, I didn't find the video to be extremely beneficial.
ReplyDeleteI found this video to be very helpful. I like how this teacher, just like Mr. Oliger, really pushes for students to understand the unit circle. The color usage of the equation helps to understand the different parts of it. The introduction and explanation of sine and cosine graphing seemed to be a review of things we have already been taught in class. On the other hand, the idea of a T table was interesting. It makes since to me, because he started with the phase shift and ended with the value it would be at the end of one period. I believe making a T table helps you understand where the points on the graph comes from instead of just placing them there. If it was a difficult period to graph, a table would allow you to keep your information and steps organized. With this being said, I prefer the way we were taught in class because I feel like it is quicker. As long as you remember to cut the period in fourths and the structure of the function, you shouldn't have a problem. This method could be taught to students who don't understand how to graph sine and cosine so that they get a visual of the numbers.
ReplyDeleteThis video really helped me understand how to graph the two functions better. I think the t-chart method is a good thing to use; it would help if you were having trouble with the points on the curve and splitting it into fourths. It also helped me because it gave me another explanation as a sort of review, and like it was said in class, the more you hear/do these graphs the more I grasp the concept of it.
ReplyDeleteThis video really helped me better understand how to graph sin and cosine. I liked the t-chart because it gave me another idea on how to graph these two functions. I do like the way Mr. Oliger taught us a little better but I definitely will like having this second idea to lean back on if I can't get the answer with my other method. I do believe that the T-chart method would take forever in some scenarios though.
ReplyDeleteIt really helped me understand the graph of sine and cosine more. I agree with Ben, the t-chart really helped me. It helped me understand more where those numbers are coming from. I like the way Mr. Oliger teaches it, this video just made it a little easier to understand and follow.
